Evaluating Your Table Stake Texas Holdem poker is increasingly becoming a game for the pros, or people intending to go pro. It seems like everyone out there has read reams of material on the game of poker, knows the lingo, and practices enough to make your recreational poker playing seem like a joke. The problem with all this knowledge at the table is that it ratchets up the competition. Because everyone is so god, competition can be sharp at all available table stakes. As a recreational player, you could be losing money at your normal table stakes simply because the players have gotten better. This is not a reflection on your playing ability so much as our modern poker culture. I am sure that you can see the importance of evaluating your table stake frequently. There is absolutely nothing wrong with changing your table stakes if you feel that your old table is no longer working out. More and more recreational players are doing just that these days and slipping to a lower table instead of facing the cutthroat competition at their old one. Many of the players who move down say that they have far more fun when they don’t have to worry about losing their mortgage payment. They are finding the enjoyment in the game that professionalism has destroyed.
