The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) have come together for the successive year to identify and recognise the individuals with the novel ideas that enhances the safety and health in the workplaces at the same time reduces expenses.
The “Small Business Award - for Innovation in Safety and Health” is an award for those who implement the best ideas for improving the wellness in workplaces incorporating the low cost principles too. Last year the MD of Safety Smart Risk Management Consultants, Anthony Tetlow won the award.
He had made an application that is industry-specific and works well on the iTouch, iPhone and iPad. Thus, it has safety and health concepts conveyed even to the hairdressers working in the salons.
Steve Granger, the IOSH President says that the IOSH believes that the people with novel ideas deserve recognition because they contribute to make the workplace safer, accident-free and enhance wellbeing of the employees. The award is the best podium for identifying the excellent one.
The IOSH’s Life Savings Campaign encourages and stands for the importance of good health and safety practices not just to the industries but to the Government too. Since, it is not just morally but financially beneficial and its effects are long lasting. Hence, this year’s award finds its inspiration from this campaign.
Granger also adds that the purpose of hosting the award is not just the about creating awareness about the financial profits of incorporating the best novel ideas but also to garner attention and recognition to the individuals working relentlessly for safety and health. This would help them influence the safety practices in many more industries and improve the workplaces.
The individual to win this year will receive a two-day pass to the IOSH 2012 conference and exhibition free of cost, in addition to a cash prize of £1,000.
It’s worth remembering accredited IOSH Training courses, are easily accessible and can assist organisations to be aware of the proper health and safety procedures for all kinds of workplace situations, and make sure they are fully aware of the most up-to-date requirements.
