Facebook Faces Protests against Privacy Settings Change Comments (0)

Consumers Den& Telecommunication Hub& Web Of Social Bookmarking

Users and critics are making no bones about expressing their dissatisfaction with Facebook’s new privacy settings change. The social networking site announced revolutionary changes in this area last month.

The new privacy settings came into force recently with users getting a pop up message asking them to reset their settings in their respective accounts. When the concept was first made public, Facebook spokespersons said that with these new settings, users would be able to determine and control viewership for each piece of content rather than have one general setting for the entire account.

Considering that a huge number of people have accounts on Facebook where they share intensely private information, privacy for content is a significant aspect of the site.

However, what has got the users’ ire up is that Facebook has taken the task upon itself to reset all current privacy levels to default, thus bringing into public view a huge chunk of protected personal information. Other Facebook users and those browsing with search engines can access this information until the settings are updated once more by users.

This means that users will need to update their settings on war footing if they have some information on Facebook which they would like to hide. This is not being appreciated by critics and users alike. They have accused the social networking site of forcing users to update privacy features immediately instead of at their own pace. Protestors are saying that Facebook is trying to make its site more attractive to advertisers and more accessible via RSS feeds and search engine spiders.

However, Facebook representatives have vociferously denied these charges. They have stated that the privacy settings change is a move purely designed to aid users to get better control of their personal content and that there is no underlying promotional agenda here.

With the ever-growing popularity of social networking sites, internet safety might be an issue for you if you are thinking of getting broadband for your home computer. There are a number of points to consider when deciding what broadband is best for you and your family. It enables users to run lesser number of software on their own computers, as they can do the same in a virtual environment. This development is seen as the next big thing in computing.

Users will be able to back up data from their computer to a secured site that is remotely hosted under the Vodafone’s PC backup service. This service will enable users to view and share data via their broadband connection either from their own PC, or from any computer with an internet connection anywhere in the world.

Huw Medcraft, director of Vodafone mobile broadband, said that each day their customers use various connected devices that have different information and data contained in them. With the new service, the users will be able to store the content centrally. Medcraft reassured Vodafone customers that they could access their work documents for businesses or their family photographs anytime and across both fixed and mobile networks.

A business version is also in the pipeline, which will have a user management in a multi-user system. It will effectively help in creating a basic document management system, which will allow an administrator to control access to information by multiple users.

The backup service is due for a launch sometime next year. However, the pricing is yet to be finalized.

Consumers Den& Technology Resources& Telecommunication Hub

Mobile broadband is a fresh invention, the full potential of which is yet to be realised. For example, it has been suggested that the law enforcement agencies should use it to stay connected with each other and share information which will ensure better protection for citizens. It could also be effectively used for rescue personnel.

New reports show that the number of people who use this technology is increasing every day, with people both in the US and the UK getting hooked on to mobile broadband. Its importance is increasing particularly in business communities as businessmen who travel regularly find it a necessity as they can use it to stay connected even when they are flying. If you are new to mobile broadband a very good site to look at is Mobile Broadband Genie, as the name infers they are a dedicated mobile broadband website. It’s a good place for information and to get you started with mobile broadband, particularly with their free laptop deals.

An important role found to be played by mobile broadband is in sales force management. A sales agent can find the technology very useful when he has to stay in touch with new information and changing market trends. Many companies have started using it to ensure that the employees have necessary connectivity whenever they need it.

An example of this is BIVI, as American company involved in biological research. It uses mobile broadband to allow sales and field employees to connect with its customer relationship management system, which helps them stay in sync with the needs of the customers and give them better services. It is clear that this technology is going to go a long way in increasing productivity and profits, and this is just the beginning.

In terms of the the display the mobile phone is fitted with a 2 inch screen, which is a disappointingly sized display considering the alternatives for the cost of this phone. The display is a OLED, 16M colors. When compared to other mobile handsets on the market the Nokia 8800 Arte is one of the smallest phones on the market. If the visual appearance phone is important to you, you should be aware that this phone can only be bought in Black.
